This Sunday, November 4th, promises to be a toe-tapping celebration of the amazing bluegrass music talent in the Chattanooga area. A tribute to Chattanooga Market community sponsor Mountain View Auto Group, two bluegrass performances will be live on the EPB Stage:
1:00 – 2:00pm Bluetastic Fangrass
Instrumental prowess showcases both traditional and original material based in bluegrass, swing, & swampy blues. From haunting to barn-burning, the show features Lou Wamp’s incredible dobro and slide talents plus a band of players that can go there with him.
Lou is a 30+ year veteran of the bluegrass stage, having toured with such nationally known acts as James Monroe & the Midnight Ramblers and Blue Moon Rising. Wamp’s band of hot pickers also includes Brad Frazier on lead vocals and guitar, the legendary Jim Pankey on banjo, fiddlers Owen Saunders and Meredith Goins, 3-time National Flatpicking Champion Roy Curry on lead guitar, and Lynn Wamp rockin’ the bass. It’s a slightly dyslexic look at Fantastic Bluegrass. And if it’s true “there’s no money above the fourth fret” then these guys are bound for the poorhouse, but it’ll be a wild ride!
2:30-3:30pm The Lone Mountain Band
There exists a trail in Bluegrass music today, one that Lone Mountain Band is not afraid to lose sight of. Any modern band of this genre can mash it and speed through from one song to another, but it takes talent, effort, and respect for music to entertain with the finesse of an experienced group like LMB.
Though respectably rooted in the traditionally hard core bluegrass sound, LMB wanders through a variety of sounds and styles reaching their audiences with a pleasant mix of humor, grace, and attitude. From tradition to modern, the sights and sounds on an LMB concert stage make for a toe-tapping great time.
Bobby, Diana, Jim, and Roy utilize their chemistry for producing a great show that will leave their guests feeling they’ve spent an evening with old friends. After a night with the Lone Mountain Bane, everyone walks away smiling.
