Sunday, August 27th marks one of the tastiest Sundays at Chattanooga Market. The Beast Feast® Festival, in it’s 7th year, will add a finale cook-off this year—the Main Street Steak Competition— created to single out the best pit master in Chattanooga.
Chattanooga Market’s Beast Feast BBQ Festival is the largest BBQ competition in the area. This year brings returning contestants, new pit masters and local chefs from the AFC (American Federation of Chefs). Each BBQ team will be selling plates of their BBQ meat, unique sauces, and offerings of tasty sides. Many teams will be offering free samples as well, encouraging patrons to try their BBQ in hopes for a “fan favorite” vote. Voting rights cost just $1 and all proceeds will go to the Ooltewah High School culinary class, who will be manning the voting boxes. One of the seven BBQ teams will be awarded People’s Choice for 2017.
And there will be a judge’s vote too—which allows advancement into the final round. The AFC chefs will be offering up one of their own to compete head-to-head against the Judge’s Choice winner for the inaugural Main Street Steak Championship. Happening right on Carter Street at 3:30pm that day, the final round contestants will each be cooking a thick and juicy rib-eye steak on identical equipment heated to 500 degrees. The winner will receive a cash prize, trophy and, of course, bragging rights.
